Choosing the Execution, Not Just the Effect

Artwork Meets Material Reality.

A visual mock-up shows intent, not manufacturing feasibility. The same artwork may require different process choices on a lightweight stretch top and a structured warm-up layer. Technique review considers the graphic, material, application area and the finished hand feel together.

Print and Transfer

Key Selection Questions.

Different print and transfer approaches vary in artwork detail, surface hand, material compatibility and durability expectations. Test the selected process on a representative sample when appropriate.

  • Image complexity
  • Number of colors
  • Fabric surface
  • Stretch at the placement area

Embroidery

Texture With Constraints.

Embroidery offers dimension and texture, but stitch density, backing, design scale and fabric stretch can influence the result. A compact emblem on a stable panel may require different handling from a large embroidered area on a lightweight knit. Sample review should check appearance and any distortion around the artwork.

Can still differ in

  • Stitch density
  • Backing
  • Design scale
  • Fabric stretch
Sublimation and Material Compatibility

Not a Universal Option.

Sublimation is often considered for suitable polyester-based substrates, but the actual fabric, finishing and color requirements must be evaluated. It should not be described as a universal option for cotton or every dark garment. Confirm substrate suitability and sample results before promising a specific appearance.

  • Suitable polyester-based substrate
  • Fabric finishing
  • Color requirements
  • Sample result before any promise

Reflective and Specialty Effects

Design and Visibility—Without Implied Certification.

Reflective details and specialty finishes can serve design and visibility goals, but placement, flexibility, wash behavior and material compatibility need review. Avoid implying a certified safety function without product-specific evidence or relevant standards.

A Placement Can Change the Process

Where the Graphic Sits Changes How It Behaves.

A graphic placed over a high-stretch knee area, beside a seam or across a pocket can behave differently from one on a stable panel. Artwork placement should therefore be reviewed against the garment’s construction, with adjustments documented before production.

Artwork Files and Approval Samples

An Image-Only Mock-Up Is Not Enough When Dimensions Matter.

The approved sample should identify the final technique and positioning for the order.

  • Editable files, where possible
  • Intended dimensions
  • Reference colors
  • Placement measurements
  • A note on the desired appearance

Not automatically. Density, backing, placement and fabric stability need review on a representative sample.

These are common reference formats, but file suitability, editability and production requirements should be checked per technique.
